Arizona heat, heatstroke, keeping cool, pet safety, summer, water safety
As those of you native to Arizona and visiting alike know, summer here is very hot! While we all scurry to keep cool, it can sometimes slip our minds that our fury friends need heat protection too. Remember, water safety applies to animals just as much as children. Don’t leave your pet unattended. It only takes a minute for a tragedy to happen.
Have you heard the old phrase, you can fry an egg on the asphalt in AZ? Well, your dog’s feet can burn if you walk him/her in the afternoon. Stick to early morning and late evening walks and hikes now that the summer sun is cooking the ground.
Your pet doesn’t produce sweat like humans do. Topped with a fur coat, it’s easy for your fury companion to get heat stroke. So use precaution and common sense. If you’re hot, your pet is hot. Let’s all have a safe and fun summer!
